Utena had been keeping an eye on Bella since the freak accident in the science classroom. Unfortunately, her sister was nervous enough as it was, and getting Mr. Williamson's powers wasn't helping much. Anytime her anxiety rose or she got startled, some part of her body would turn into metal. At the moment, Utena was trying to help her get some fresh air. Bella always like the outdoors, maybe spending some time on the grounds would calm her down.
"Bella, you've gotta relax. They said you would be back to normal in a week you know," she said as she sat her sister down on the grass. "You've just got to deal with this until then."
"But it feels so weird," Bella argued, clutching her right arm to her body, which was currently metal. "I've never been without my plant powers before, ever. And now I'm stuck with this?" She waved her right arm to demonstrate.
"I know, I know, but freaking out isn't going to make it any better," Utena pointed out.

Apparently the science class had an accident, and as Dorothea was leaving her social studies class, the hallways were all abuzz about an apparent Freaky Friday scenario where people were switching powers. At first, she didn’t think much of it. But then there was a sense of dread. Spike nearly died at the beach, what if some of her other classmates were causing trouble because of a power mixup
Her heels, while low, were big the best running, but off she went, running to the grounds. Her green eyes scanned the area. Sone looked normal, while others were looking flighty. As Dorothea left the main threshold, she saw some familiar pink hair.
Wait, that wasn’t Bella. Last she checked, Bella didn’t have that stylish haircut. But someone with a metal arm looked the part. Oh, right, Bella had mentioned a twin. This must have been that twin.
“Bells?” She approached the duo, letting her nickname for her friend come forth. “Everything okay, sweetheart?”

Utena saw another girl running over, probably noticing Bella's distress. And it seemed like she knew her. Was this one of the friends her sister had made?
Bella shook her head in response to Dorothea's question. "No. I'm stuck with this!" She flung out her metal arm.
"A mishap in the science lab," Utena quickly explained. "People's powers got switched around. Staff said the only thing we could do was wait a week for it to wear off."
Bella groaned. The idea of walking around like a female version of the Tin Man from the Wizard of Oz did not sound like fun.

Dorothea’s green eyes widened in surprise when Bella showed off her metal arm. For a brief second, the worst thoughts crossed her mind. Had there been an accident and Bella had to get a prosthetic? If anyone hurt her sweet Bells, they’d pay. But then her twin said an accident happened in science class where powers had been switched and it’d be some time before things got to normal. Surprise and worry melted away, becoming concern. “It doesn’t hurt, does it?” She had no idea how this worked.

"No, it's just...weird," Bella replied. "I can't go for five minutes without something else becoming-" Almost as if the powers were reading her mind, her left food suddenly became encased in metal. She groaned. "Like that," she finished.
"Hey, consider yourself lucky," Utena said. "At least you didn't get powers switched with some of the crazier kids around here. Like, what if you got stuck making earthquakes or something?"
Bella groaned again. She didn't even want to think about that. What if she'd ended up with Ruby's super speed or Caspar's super strength? Or Zuko's fire powers? Just the thought of it made her feel queasy.

Clink.
A new clunking sound meant that Bella had turned another part of her chrome. Dorothea said nothing as Bella’s sister tried, and seemingly failed, to calm Bella down. Granted, the thought was well meant. Metal bodies were a bit different than controlling an element or other abilities.
“Well, what went through your mind when you first made a flower bloom? Or what do you think of to make the perfect garden?”
It was worth a shot at least.

"Uh..." Bella thought for a moment before answering. "I was really little, and I think I saw some flowers wilting or something, and I was sad to see them look like that. It was kind of like...my powers read my mind and kicked in at that point, and they made them brand new."
Bella seemed a bit more calm now, which put Utena at ease. Whatever Dorothea was doing was helping.

“Okay,” Dorothea said reassuringly. Wanting to help wilting flowers thrive was such a Bella answer. Her friend always wanted to improve something, and helping the tiniest things find their blossom was right. “So why not apply a similar thought to the metal? Think of telling it that you’re not ready to fight, or that you are okay.” Because Bella was safe. She just needed to be reminded of it.

Dorothea had a point. If Bella described her powers as them "reading her mind" then maybe the same could be said for the metal one. If she just relaxed and calmed down a bit, maybe the powers would too.
"Think happy thoughts or something," Utena added. "Like, uh..." She snapped her fingers several times, trying to think of something. "Like helping mom with the greenhouse in the summer. Or your favorite Florence and the Machine song."
Bella gave a little laugh. But she could see what Dorothea and Utena were trying to do. She let out a breath, trying to relax her muscles. That little bit seemed to do enough and the metal shrank back a bit. "Hey, look at that!" she said with a smile.

The music nerd part of Dorothea’s brain shot to Peter Pan at the twin sister’s comment…shit what was her name again? Bella had to have said it at one point…but kept it in. Bella had taken both of their advice, and like, well, pixie dust magic, Bella’s skin went from metal to its regularly rosy. Dorothea clapped softly with a smile spreading across her face. “Bells. I’m so proud of you! You got it!” She also grinned at the twin. “Oh, and thanks for the extra help.”

"No problem, uh..." Utena paused, realizing she hadn't even asked for the girl's name.
"Oh, Utena, this is Doorthea," Bella cut in, forgetting that her sister hadn't met her friend yet. "Dorothea, Utena."
"Oh, you're the Glee club friend," Utena said, remembering Bella mentioning something like that. She didn't know how Bella managed to befriend someone so confident, but good for her. She needed more outgoing friends.

Dorothea smiled a friendly smile over to Utena. Bella was always singing praises about her sister. Now she saw why there was such a strong bond. Utena was supportive and caring, and her sweet Bella needed all the love in the world. “So you’re the famous outgoing twin that Bella talks about. Good to finally put a face to a name together.”

"Oh, nice to know she's been saying good things about me," Utena joked. Bella laughed a little too, which made Utena happy. Anything to keep her from freaking out over this whole metal thing. "You've got the, what's it called, the voice control thing, right?"
"Siren song is one way of putting it," Bella said. Which, given Dorothea's love of all things thespian, kind of made sense. Bella wondered how she'd handle a power like that. She'd probably get paranoid about hypnotizing someone by accident. Just thinking about it made a little bit of metal creep up her arm. "Don't start," she muttered, as if reprimanding a pet.

Dorothea gave a kind, acknowledging point to Bella. The explanation was the perfect way to put it. “Yes, I do have the siren song. But don’t worry, it only affects men, so you’ll be safe should Bells and I turn this into a singalong,” she joked. There was always a lucky chance that she could get a chance to sing without accidentally putting men under her spell.

"Ah, you can get guys to do your bidding. Sweet," Utena joked. Good thing Dorothea decided to be a hero. Plenty of villains would abuse a power like that. Then again, most kids here could do a lot of damage if they decided to use their powers for bad reasons.
"The ultimate dream of any girl," Bella said with a little laugh.
