Zelda’s eyes fell onto Albedo’s calculations. After scanning them until she had them figured out, she accessed the calculator on her Slate. She began intense calculations of her own, weighing the pros and cons of the options on the table. She could understand the worry of leaving a homemade weapon in someone else’s hands. Her Slate was a prime example. But if she and Albedo crafted it in a hurry, then Ruby would have to make it a regular updating. Zelda didn’t want the poor girl to feel indebted to them, but at the same time, she didn’t deserve a shoddy repair job because Zelda and Albedo were careless in their metal working. After finishing the last of her number punching, she had come to a logical conclusion. Taking the camera on her Slate, she snapped a photo of Crescent Rose’s blueprints and gently pushed them back to Ruby.
“Give us maybe a few hours. We want to test several alloys for the replacement blade so it doesn’t get fire damage ever again. That’s our biggest priority. It’ll still be your trusty weapon, just with newfangled technology.”

"Is there anything I can do to help?" Ruby asked.
She felt a little strange about leaving her precious baby with the two students, but she had no other options. Her ability to fix it was limited. She took the blueprints and rolled them back up. She had never shown the blueprints to anyone before. They were special. Like a piece of her very soul.
Albedo looked to Zelda, allowing her to take the lead on it. He had no idea what Ruby could have done to be useful in this situation.

Zelda looked over at Ruby. Something about her reminded her of a puppy; so eager to help, but inexperience was in there. But she supposed that well meaning could be an oversight. Ruby would only get in the way should she stay around. However, Zelda also knew that Albedo could get carried away with his projects, and something like this could get out of hand quickly. “Let us know if there is absolutely nothing we should do. This is your prized possession. It would be rude of us to simply tinker it and not have your permission.” She opened a notes app and simply typed; NO. She could fill in whatever Ruby didn’t want later.

"Uh, well... style changes, I guess? I want this to still look like my scythe. And it needs to still be able to change into a shot gun or a rifle."
Albedo glanced over her shoulder and was mildly impressed that this was part of the weapon's capability. He lifted the scythe and examined it again, seeing the mechanism that broke down and compacted the weapon.
"What about a replaceable blade attachment? In case yours gets blunted or damaged in battle?" Albedo asked.
"That's... not a bad idea but I don't want it to make it fragile."

Ruby quickly answered with a fairly simple request. Good. Zelda could appreciate someone that liked making a job easier. She typed in the requests for no style changes into the NO section. She swiped left to the photograph of the blueprints and studied them. There it was. The metal for the blade. As she quickly calculated how much of each ingredient, she overheard Albedo discussing a change for the weapon.
“I’ll get started on the tests for the blade.” Zelda called over her shoulder, tying her blonde hair back into a loose braid. The scrap for metal would melt easily. No need for a blacksmith with she had calculated enough. Grabbing the metal and a lighter, she made the Bunsen burner flare to life. It would not only act as a melting source, but the flame required for the heating part of the experiment.

Albedo studied the blueprints and then began setting a mold for the new iron they were going to be melting and cooling. He set up a crucible for Zelda to melt everything down in. Then he began to set up the smelting furnace.
"I think a segmented scythe blade would be optimal," Albedo told her. "We can salvage the old metal from the original blade as it's already been melted once to recycle the material."
Ruby took a seat in the corner of the room, out of the way so she didn't bother them. They were doing all of this out of the goodness of their hearts. She appreciated it.

“Is a segmented blade fine?” Zelda asked Ruby from over her shoulder. She was getting to work laying out a metal mesh to go over the blade. Not only would it allow from the cooling damage like Albedo suggested, but it would act as an extra armor for the blade. Instead of damaging the blade, it would enhance its strength. If Ruby wanted a changed blade, she could change the mesh easily.

"Yeah. My uncle has a segmented blade." Ruby said. "I'd know how to take care of it."
Albedo nodded in approval. He began settling things up and helping Zelda find enough ore to melt down for the crucible. This wasn't how he expected to spend his days, but he wasn't above getting his hands dirty for a project. Though, he did stop his preparations to give both Ruby and Zelda protective gear, mostly the goggles for Ruby with gloves and goggles going to Zelda. Had to protect themselves from the temperature.

“All right. A segmented blade it is.” Ruby sounded confident in being able to care for it. A segmented blade did mean that repairs would be longer. But it wasn’t anything Zelda couldn’t say no to as a challenge. She accepted the goggles and gloves Albedo handed her with a smile. As they snapped over her eyes, she focused on the mesh. She grabbed a timer and measured the length of the blade that she had noted. Afterwards, the blade was segmented evenly. Well, evenly as it should be. Once carved, Zelda sliced the mesh with a metal cutter and put it to the side. After the metal test, she could apply it.

"Are you sure there's nothing I can do to help?" Ruby asked.
Albedo shook his head. He knew this weapon was precious to her. However, her hovering wasn't going to assist them. He was trying to be patient for her. He was trying to be kind and patient. It wasn't his forte. He was trying on behalf of Zelda.
"Why don't you step outside? We could use your patience in this matter. We know what we're doing. This is child's play." Albedo said.

"We'll can find you when your weapon is repaired, Ruby," Zelda promised. A reassuring smile crossed her face as she looked at the silver eyed girl. "Do yourself yourself and get yourself a nice snack. You deserve one." Well, it was nicer than what she wanted to say. She remembered a nanny from back then shooing her out with the same statement, and after getting a plate of cookies, one f her inventions had been properly repaired. He gave a nod to Albedo. "I trust Albedo. He's the genius that engineered a dorm ice cream experiment. Maybe you can, er, test out one of the flavors for us?"
