Zuko's response was a little quiet. Bella wasn't sure if something was on his mind or that was just all he wanted to say. He was a little hard to read. Maybe she'd get better at it once she got to know him. "I can introduce you, if you want," she offered. "I mean, not that I think she needs help making friends. She's really outgoing. But she always likes meeting new people and stuff." Ugh, she really needed to stop rambling when she was nervous or felt like she said something wrong. It always made things awkward.

“It’s…it’s okay. I may run into her without realizing. Don’t feel su pressured. You’re a nice person and offering a tour is a good start. Like you said, she might end up tagging along…” And he stopped his rambles before he went and said something stupid. He was already burned for speaking out of turn or trying correct someone. Bella could easily have him hung up by a tree root which could shake him like a rag doll. The last thing he wanted was to get on the bad side of someone that he was able to open up to; no pun intended.

Zuko was right, Bella needed to relax a little bit. And he did have a point. There was a chance Utena would probably run into him eventually. "Sorry. Old mannerisms die hard, I guess," she said, brushing some hair out of her face. She'd always been a little quiet and awkward, and being bullied a bit when she was younger. Things weren't too bad here, although there were still some kids who had a reputation for trying to start shit or putting down others to feel big. But weren't all high schools like that anyway? That wasn't exclusive just to Hero High.

“Yeah.” What else could Zuko say without sounding like a selfish jerk? He had been a people pleaser until the incident. Well, and growing up with his environment didn’t exactly help. But that was an explanation, not an excuse for his changed, jaded behavior. This was also the longest conversation he had that didn’t involve hero work or, well, actual work. Not counting the accidental dandelion burn, which Bella took better than he had thought. Now that he knew she had powers and an older sibling, he knew there was no getting out of big mistakes should he make them.

At least Zuko didn't mind her awkwardness. That was a plus in Bella's mind. However, a reminder on her phone buzzed and she realized she had a class in a couple of minutes. "I'd better go. I have biology soon," she said as she stood up. "But I'll see you later, okay?" She did want to make good on her offer to show him around campus, and bring Utena if possible. New people here could probably use a friend or two.

"Well, don't let me be the reason you're late." He held up a hand to give a small wave as she stood. "I'll see you around." He stayed still on the grass, not even realizing just now that the temperature of his drink had changed. It was still warm, though, and he took one swig, looking back at the blackened dandelions. Maybe there was hope after all.
