Shiro felt like coffee made him too jittery sometimes, but after teaching several classes in a row, he felt like he needed a boost from the caffeine. After all, hand-to-hand combat was a lot more physical than, say, math class or history. But so far, the day was going well. The kids could get a little too intense sometimes in this class. And if their powers were linked to physical combat, like super strength or speed, it could get a little complicated. But there hadn't been any serious injuries today, which was a plus. The teacher's lounge had a fancy keurig and it was soon whirring away, filling a mug with Dunkin' Donuts coffee.

Ami had just finished taking care of one the students that seemed to have twisted his ankle. She felt bad for the boy, yet she was glad she was able to help him. As she made her way to the teacher's lounge to get some tea and to take a break, she kept a box of chamomile tea in her office just so that she could have it on hand.
She walked in and saw that one of the teachers was in the lounge, well it was the teachers lounge. The shy blue haired teacher held on tight to her book and tea pack as she walked in. "Hello." she said shyly to the teacher a bit blushing, out of shyness more than anything.

It looked like Shiro wasn't the only one who needed a break. One of the other teachers soon came in as well, although it looked like she preferred tea rather than coffee. She greeted him, if a bit shyly, but he didn't mind. Shiro was kind of new here, after all. And the woman did look a bit familiar from when he had been introduced to a couple of the other teachers and staff when he'd first been hired. "Hi," he said in return. "Um...Ami, isn't it?" he asked. She was the school nurse, if he remembered correctly. She probably had a busy job. Teenagers got injured often enough, but throw super powers into the mix, and you had students brought into the clinic probably every day.

Ami continued to make her tea and suddenly became shy as a teacher approached her. She was a bit nervous and ended up blushing a bit when he said hi to her. Most of the teachers seemed nice as she remembered from the first huddle they went too. Only one teacher looked scary, but at the same time scientificaly interesting. "Hello there." she said very shly in a bit of a mumble. "Yeah that's me... I mean.... Uh... Shiro is it?" she gave a sweet little smile. He was the school combat teacher, wasn't he, in charge of fighting. Well she indeed seen a lot of the teenagers coming into her office after his sessions.

"Yup, that's me," Shiro replied. The keurig made a dinging noise and he saw his mug was full. As he pulled it out, he asked "Busy day so far?" Ami didn't seem too frazzled or anything, which was good. Sometimes new staff could feel overwhelmed when they were first starting out. Shiro had remembered feeling that way when he'd first started teaching. But he felt like he was starting to get used to things and had a better idea of what to expect during a typical day. At least, as typical as a superhero high school could get.

The blue haired teacher gave a smile to his response, she got it right. "You could say that." She didn't want to say that it was partially his class that came in wounded. "A few injuries here and there, but what else would you expect from a heroes school." She took a sip of her tea. It tasted wonderful and relaxed her quite a bit. "So how about you, have you been keeping busy?"

"Nothing too bad so far. Nobody's gotten set on fire or frozen in a block of ice," Shiro replied as he sipped his coffee. "Which has happened more than once. You'd be surprised at the weird stuff that can happen when a kid throws a punch or tries a fancy kick." Some powers went together with hand to hand combat like peas and carrots, and if someone put a little too much force behind a move, it could have interesting results to say the least.

Ami took a sip of her tea. "That's true or cause any mental damage as well. Atleast if that happened we are all ready to heal any degree in burns and hypothermia at any time." she commented back. "Even if they come in with a headache, we are all ready to heal. You would be surprised on how well stocked our infirmary is. " Ami blushed a bit. She really got into healing and was proud of the facility on which she worked. "Sorry.... I might have got a little carried away." she continued sweetly.
She looked up at him. "So how is your class actually going?" she asked a bit curious on his work as well.

Ami went on a tangent about the nurse's office pretty much being ready to go, but she soon got embarrassed and clammed up. Shiro didn't find it annoying though. "Hey, don't be. It's nice to know we're prepared for any medical emergencies," he said. Despite some people thinking superheroes were invincible, they could get banged up from time to time. Shiro himself had gotten a few nasty injuries over the years, even with his metal powers protecting him.
"I think it's going well," he replied. "Sometimes students need a little reminder that their powers won't always be there for them, and it's important to know how to defend yourself without them." More than a few supervillains had come up with technology to null a hero's powers, or make them difficult to use. If you didn't know how to defend yourself, you were pretty much a sitting duck if your powers were gone.

Ami gave a soft sweet smile, glad that Shiro understood that she didn't mean to go into a tangent about her medical office. Even though she was blessed with water powers and invisibility she loved healing others. She was very proud of all her hard work and was glad that someone else knew how important it was to keep the students healthy and be prepared for emergencies.
"Indeed both in medical emergencies. I am sure you offer some defensive instructions in your class, that too helps, I bet." she said calmly talking another sip of her tea, trying to pay him back a little small compliment.

"Let's hope it helps them," Shiro replied, gazing off into the distance slightly as he sipped from his mug. "We teach them the skills, how to control their powers and use them for good. After that, once they graduate...it's all on them." There'd always have some support of course, even senior superheroes offered advice or banded together when there was a particularly tough challenge to face. But once a student graduated and became a full-fledge hero, they called the shots, they decided what to do when faced with a certain situation. Shiro and the others teachers could give them the tools they needed, but it was up to them to use them effectively.

"Indeed." she gave a soft sweet smile. "I just hope that they don't get hurt too badly out there. It's a rough world. " Ami was always conscientious about the students, after all being a nurse made her feel more like a mom than anything else. She loved taking care of others and heck sometimes visited hospitals to check on things and to learn some new techniques. She just wanted to make sure that the students live happy life. She knew in her heart that she could trust those who taught them, but still she couldn't help but sometimes worry about them.

"One they'll have to deal with, unfortunately," Shiro replied. Being a superhero was tough work, and students sometimes didn't realize that when they first started. Shiro had seen some drop out, not able to handle the responsibility or staring death in the face on a daily basis. Shiro felt like there was no shame in that though. This wasn't a job for everyone, and you could still work with superheroes even if you weren't one yourself. Shiro had seen students that ended up dropping out get jobs like superhero defense lawyers, costume makers, or weapon designers.

Ami gave a slight frown to that yet understood exactly where he was coming from. "Indeed, yet here's to hoping that this group of kids will be okay and atleast have a chance to shine." She honestly was proud of those students, just cause they haven't been in the line of battle doesn't make the person no longer a hero. Just standing up for yourself and believing that things are right, is enough to be a true hero. She was also grateful to the other teachers at the school with the abilities to teach the kids to shine.

Ami had a point. No sense in worrying about the bad things that might happen. There were a lot of good things that could happen too. A lot of these kids would probably graduate and become renowned heroes themselves. That was always something nice to think about, and it was something he wanted to help them do. He always felt satisfied when a student pulled off a new move they'd been struggling with for a while, or could fight just with their hands as well as their powers. "You're right, gotta look on the bright side of things," he agreed.
