"Yeah. Guess so"
He looked at the sandwich, greeted by the warm and inviting smell of the marinara sauce. Ruby went out of her way to get this for him. It didn't look poisoned or microwaved from the wrapping. Before taking a bite, Zuko pressed his hand on the bread and exhaled. The bun grew crispy and warmer until it finally reached his level of toasting that he liked. He sat on the chipped pavement like she had and took a bite. To say it was good was an understatement. Maybe it was because he was eating after exercise?

"This is from my new favorite shop," Ruby explained, "Speedy's!"
And of course, she said this unironically, as she was a speedster herself. In her own way. Most speedsters didn't end up leaving a trail of rose petals behind them like she did. And, when she ran, she could take others with her. But she felt that Zuko wouldn't have appreciated that. She knew that it was a bit of a jarring experience for people not used to it. Especially if she did it without asking first. She bit into her sandwich, now happy that she finally got to have lunch. Long awaited and well earned.

“I didn’t know they served sandwiches. Always saw them as a burger joint.”
Mostly because Zuko avoided fast food like this plague. It didn’t matter how good the French fry oil smelled, it was always an unpleasant association that he wasn’t ready to discuss. But it was good to know that the place could stretch its horizons, and we’ll, the sandwich was pretty taste. A tiny unfamiliar seed of what he could only assume was trust rooted itself, and he said suddenly,
“I work part time at the cafe down the way from Speedy’s.”

"Yeah? That's awesome! I'll have to stop by sometime! I haven't gotten a part time job yet," Ruby said. "I need to though. There's so many comics I want to read! But I can't get a job there. It'd be too tempting to buy everything."
She already had a conversation with Utena about the evil temptations of comics. She needed to see if she was up to swap books sometime. But yes, her spending cash was limited, because her father knew she would be too tempted to get everything she could get her hands on. Until she 'proved herself to be financially responsible' he wouldn't let up. Though, getting a job at Speedy's wasn't half bad. She could always be a delivery girl! She was fast enough for it.

Ah, so comic books was her book of choice. It made sense. Heroes graced the pages of them so much and in different ways. While comic books weren't Zuko's thing, he understood why so many people gravitated towards them. Ruby would be a fun face to see working a comic store. She could get whatever items people wanted and then zip off in a wake of rose petals to her next duty. Of course, the only person who would hate her would be the janitor that had to clean up her mess.

Hmm... He wasn't much of a talker. Not a bad thing. Ruby had often been told she talked enough for two. So until the police arrived with a detaining unit to collect Cinderblock's unconscious (at least she hoped he was unconscious. She really would have been upset if he were dead) body. About senseless things. About her dog Zwei. About her Crescent Rose. About her favorite comics, just nattering on and on.
(End?)
