“No thank you.” Zelda answered immediately. Her green eyes glittered on defiance. She didn’t want to learn to punch anyone. That wasn’t why she was here. Leave the bam pow stuff to the people that were capable of it. She was better off the battlefield giving guidance through well disguised tech.

"Okay, okay, no need to get all bristly about it," Spike replied. "But if you ever change your mind, you know where to find me. And I think it's the least I could do after your help with this Shakespeare stuff." Spike had a feeling Zelda wouldn't like liquor or drugs as thanks for helping with his homework. She didn't seem like that type of girl.

Zelda didn’t have the heart of the care to tell Spike that she didn’t know exactly where his haunts were. He found hers immediately. Rather than give him a verbal response, she nodded solemnly. As much as she hated to admit it, finding someone to give her tips on fighting would be useful. She could only fudge snd outsmart opponents for so long.

Zelda only nodded in response. That was probably the most Spike was going to get out of her right now. "Well, I'll leave you to your light reading," he teased. "But I don't be surprised if I show up again with Shakespeare in hand again. English teachers seem to like it here." Romeo and Juliet was as big of a staple for high schoolers as much as Hamlet. Spike sometimes preferred the former though, only because he knew the gist of the story a bit better. Forbidden romance, everyone dies, the end.

Too late. Whatever Spike had said, Zelda was already engrossed in another book. Anything to get her mind off of the subject or even just talking to him in general would be her escape. It didn’t matter if the words were garbled. All she knew was that as the old page dust settled in her nose at the book’s opening, she was already reading. ((End))
