Dorothea was bored, plain and simple. Glee club was postponed because of the patrol mission, and she was tired to reviewing the same harmonies over and over. She needed a break. Crow Bar was having a karaoke event, and well, maybe she could show these drunkards the difference between key on and key off. Like a musical Mr. Miyagi. A little quiet song to the bouncer let her slip in without an ID check, and she strutted over to the sign up sheet, scribbling her name before sitting and ordering a water. Sugar ruined her vocal chords, and while a Shirley temple sounded nice, it was murder for her pipes in karaoke.

Caspar wasn't really a singer. But he did like a good time. Besides, after fighting the hydra, he felt he deserved a good break. His equipment was being repaired after taking the beating. He grinned to himself as he took a seat. Every muscle in his body felt sore, but in a good way, like he had a fantastic workout. He took a seat at a bar top and ordered himself a good drink.

Dorothea caught a whiff of an incredibly sulfurous aroma. Either someone at the bar passed the mother of all stink bombs or there had been a super fight. She inclined her head to look over at a blue haired young man wearing armor. A super. About her age. He must have slipped in here by sneaky means, too. “Toasting a victory, I see,” she said casually.

Caspar almost missed someone talking to him, he was so distracted by his soda. If he were just a bit older, he would have had a beer. He gave a cold exhale after downing half his drink. He turned to face whoever had spoken and smiled. He had stripped down to a black tank and jeans. He was slightly singed but no worse for wear.
"Uh, yeah, went on patrol with one of the professors. We ran into a big monster." he said.

“Oh, you were one of the ones that went with Locklear!” Now Dorothea was interested. She spun around to face the student. “How bad was the fighting? No one got hurt, did they?” That was always Dorothea’s biggest concern with superhero fighters. Civilians didn’t deserve to get in the crossfire of monsters and hero business.

"Professor Locklear took a pretty hard hit." Caspar said.
He wouldn't be surprised if she had a concussion or something. He didn't see anyone take any super bad damage. He took a bit of a beating. But he had his more protective hero suit compared to the others. A bit medieval in design but it had served its purpose. It was up to the support teams to help get it back to shipshape.
"And one girl ran off pretty quick after the fight."

“And you’re the only one here celebrating a drink. If I remember, quite a few people were on that patrol mission. If you’re here, it went well despite the hiccups.”
Well, hiccup was a kind term. There should have been at least five, maybe six, other people with him. Minus one if someone took off. Or maybe the team was tending to Locklear? Maybe the smell of monster guts scared off the bouncer? Maybe he was let in for free when he announced victory against the monster? Dorothea had to admit, that soda was looking tempting. But…karaoke. Oh fuck it. She flagged the barkeep down and ordered a ginger ale. Not too sugary to effect her voice but also non alcoholic.

"I wanted to ask, but I didn't think the others would be up for it." Caspar shrugged.
He didn't know them well. And he was not about to ask the professor to hit the club with him. That would be so weird. Besides, he could meet people on his own. He already ran into someone after all. And she went to school.
"I don't think we've met. I'm Caspar!"

“Dorothea. Pleased to meet you.”
She smiled at him amiably. Finally, a chance to socialize with people that weren’t in the glee club, as much as she loved them. Better yet, someone who had just seen battle! It was worth it.

"Want to hang out Dorothea? Everyone else was a bit too tired to after our fight."
He would kill for some company. Just someone to talk to. Riku was great but he was probably studying. Or sleeping. Or not in the room, which would have left him bored. At least if Dorothea wanted to hang out, he had someone new to talk to.

“Why not? I may have to step away a couple times, but it’ll be nice to someone to sit next to.”
Going to karaoke alone was bold, but she was happy someone was wanting to give company. Sure, she would have preferred a female companion so her powers wouldn’t affect her. Caspar was nice enough, though.

"Sure, you do whatever you need to!" Caspar said.
He didn't know why she would need to step away, but figured it was just girl stuff. He was just happy for the company. Nothing said loser like celebrating a victory on your own after all. Even if Dorothea hadn't been part of the fight, it was better than the alternative.
"I was about to order some appetizers. Want anything?" Caspar asked.

“Well, I can’t say no to appetizers now, can I?” Dorothea smiled amiably. There was a tiny gurgle in her stomach. She was reminded of going for celebratory appetizers after various shows with Mittlefrank. She could just smell the mozzarella sticks now. One wouldn’t effect her voice, would it? “But at least let me pay for the ones I choose.”

"Sure. You drive a hard bargain though!" Caspar said.
A waitress came by and Caspar ordered at least one of each of the four appetizers on the happy hour menu just for himself. Because he ate a lot with his metabolism. He needed the food to sustain himself. After the waitress took Dorothea's order and left, he turned back to her.
"What brought you here tonight?"

“It’s karaoke night,” Dorothea answered simply, “ I can’t no to flaunting my voice whenever I can. Though I’m here because while I adore the glee club, the stuff we’re singing is starting to get a little boring. I needed a little palate cleanser for the voice.” Sure, she wasn’t celebrating a victory like Caspar, but it was her way of enjoying herself. Katara was somewhere academic, and she just couldn’t torment Namine or Zelda to stand on a stage to sing popular tunes. So, she had cut her losses and went by herself. There was going to be more social events down the road anyways. A singer finished an off key rendition of “Dead Mom” (a song which Dorothea despised enough from overplaying), and the emcee called her name. “That’s my cue. I’ll be right back.” She set down her soda can and sauntered to the tiny stage. The microphone was set pleasantly in a tripod, and she slid it out gently. The emcee introduced her, and as the quick cheers silenced, the song started; youtu.be/cu7QvOQKcKk
