The city tended to get into trouble more often, but that didn't the beach was 100% peaceful. Monsters liked to spring up every now and then, or a supervillain would try to cause some havoc. So, it was included when it came to the areas heroes protected. Shiro didn't mind the beach, he just hoped he didn't get too wet. A little water was fine, but a lot could mean him rusting over and that was a pain to deal with. For the moment though, everything was fine as he walked along the boardwalk near the beach. The sun was starting its downward descent and there weren't quite as many people as there had been earlier in the afternoon.

Ami decided to take a walk along the beach that afternoon to see the ocean waves. She loved the ocean and it was really hard to find a second to go there that it wasn't rampaged by monsters. To her surprise she noticed one of her fellow work collages down the beach a little further down. Being shy she hesitated and thought about waving. Maybe he was busy. Oh well she returned to look at the ocean waves.

A few of the people still left on the beach gave a friendly wave to Shiro. He waved back. While he was still trying to branch out a bit and be more social, a good number of citizens knew who he was and the hero work he did. Some, unfortunately, knew about his father as well. Shiro tried to not let it bother him when people mentioned him. It was inevitable. He did spot one familiar face though. "Ami, hey!" he greeted, waving and running to catch up with her. "How have you been?" he asked.

Ami was busy admiring the ocean, it looked so beautiful the shimmer on the water, she felt at one looking at it lost in the waves. She then heard a voice that was very familiar, the shy nurse looked up and gave a light smile. She was so happy to see Shiro again, she had been missing him. "Oh hey Shiro." she took a deep breath with a smile almost blushing. "The usual pretty much.... how about you?"

"Same, I suppose," Shiro replied. "But they needed someone to pick up patrolling around this area and I figured I could use the fresh air. Been coming up with lesson plans all day." Granted, his class required less tests than others, but planning out lessons required a bit more precision. Students were varied when it came to how much hand to hand combat they knew, and Shiro wanted to tailor lessons to them to make sure nobody fell behind or was too bored.

Ami moved her hand and placed them in her hair sorta playing with it. "Oh really then would you like to patrol together by chance?" she asked a bit sheepishly. "Really they must be interesting, just as long as you don't rough the kids up too much." she said with a bit of a concern. She trusted Shiro by now, but seeing a few of the kids did get into brawls it was a steady work ethic.

Patrolling was usually a one man job, unless a bunch of students were tagging along for a lesson. But Shiro found he didn't mind the company. "Uh, sure. Why not?" he replied. Ami made a comment about not roughing up the kids too much, and while he knew she was probably joking, he also knew Ami took her job as the school nurse seriously and wanted to make sure everyone stayed safe. "Don't worry, I'll try to keep them out of your office," he joked. Training at Hero High was mostly safe, but there were occasions when sometimes students' powers got out of control or they threw a punch a little too hard. But it was all part of the process. Students had to learn not only how to use their powers, but how to restrain themselves if the situation called for it.

"I appreciate that." Ami gave a light little blush to that response. She knew that patrolling was usually man's work, but she wanted to just spend a bit more time with Shiro. It had been a while since she and him talked and she actually connected with him pretty well. "You better." she smiled. He knew that he was joking and even being the kind caring motherly type of nurse that she was.

Almost as if on cue, right when Shiro was about to get back to his patrol route with Ami alongside him, he heard the sound of screaming and saw several panicked people running down the boardwalk like their lives depended on it.
"Hey, whoa, whoa, what the heck is going on?" Shiro asked, trying to stop one surfer guy.
"It's a monster, man!" the surfer replied. "Some weird dinosaur looking monster thing!"
A loud noise, like a cross between a roar and a snarl, sounded nearby, almost as if it had heard the surfer talking about him.
"Dude, I'm out of here!" he yelled, taking off with the crowd.
"Looks like we've got work to do," Shiro said to Ami. "Let's move." He headed towards the direction of the monster, which became easy with all the noise it was making. The only difficult part was trying to get through the crowd of people running in the opposite direction.

Ami taken in by all the noise and the panic. She looked at Shiro and gave him a nod. It was finally monster fighting time, she was a bit rusty wasn't expecting a full on monster attack, but she was curious to see how Shiro would handle himself, so the nod was the best she could give followed by. "After your lead." she smiled. It actually felt good being back in the action scene.

Ami stayed cool as a cucumber, ready to follow Shiro's lead. He headed across the pier, fighting through the wave of people running in the opposite direction. When he rounded a corner near some food stands and rides, he finally caught sight of the monster. To the surfer guy's credit, it did kind of look like a dinosaur. Leathery skin covered its whole body and its back resembled a spinosaurus. But that was there the similarities seemed to end. It walked on two feet like a person, and was only a couple of feet taller than Shiro. Its huge yellow eyes reminded him of deep sea fish. At the moment, it was picking up whatever it could grab and chucking it as hard as it could, snarling all the while. Shiro watched it throw a hot dog stand as easily as an athlete throws a football. When it started to lumber closer to the hot dog vender, Shiro instinctively went into action. However strong this thing was, he needed to lure it away from civilians. He whistled loudly before calling "Hey you!"
The monster turned at the noise, growling low in its throat like a large dog. The hot dog vender took the opportunity to scramble to safety.
"Why don't you pick on someone your own size?" Shiro called, trying to draw the monster over.
It seemed to do the trick, as the monster roared in retaliation, its focus on him. Shiro's body became encased in metal from the chin down. "Cover me," he said to Amy as he dashed forward, fist drawn back to land a hard blow on the monster.
