Just as Jack was about to continue the conversation, Shiro's phone began making an alert sound. Come to think of it, the time had seemed to pass by the longer they had sat and talked. It felt good to actually relax and not be such a ight time schedule. Shiro dismissed himself, and he stood up. "Oh, absolutely. A change of pace from the teachers' lounge, too. I need to get back and grade some papers." He headed to the door, saluting his friend one last time. "Keep in touch, amigo."

"will do," Shiro promised as he headed out the front door. Teaching students was something he'd really been looking forward to when taking this job, but he was actually surprised by also how eager he felt to get to know the staff. He'd been closed off for pretty much all of his late teenage years, and even now, he still held most people at arms length. His mother told him he should try to make some friends and open up a little more. Of course, that was difficult for him, but maybe with people like Jack, it would be a little easier.
