“Well, if we’re talking about the trite and true classics, I’m always a sucker for The Phantom of the Opera.” It was such a pinnacle of the stage world. It had everything from a pseudo Beauty and the Beast story - if not a toxic one - to elaborate costumes and set pieces. And of course, songs that were forever imbued into her mind, even if her vocal range stopped her from taking the stage as Christine. “As for the newer shows, right now it’s a tie between Hadestown and Six.”

Maria had heard of Phantom of the Opera for sure, it had a very beautiful sound track and she adored the story, sad and heartbreaking. The other two were ones she had not heard of, well, that wasn't true. She knew one song from Hadestown but not Six. "I only know the song Wait For Me from Hadestown to be honest. I love that one." she always felt so sad listening to Orpheus's love for the girl who had gone to Hadestown. "I haven't heard of Six though, is the music good?"

“Oh you’d love I!” Dorothea’s bright green eyes got brighter ar the prospect. She scanned her phone for the playlist. “It’s like Hamilton but with British history. The premise is Henry VIII’s wives have formed a girl band and they’re trying to figure out who should be the lead singer based on who had the worst marriage.” But she wouldn’t give away the ending. Sweet girls like Maria didn’t deserve to have it taken away. So note to self, don’t play I Don’t Need Your Love. Instead, she paused on her favorite song from the show;

Now, that was an interesting concept. One could really make a musical out of anything nowadays couldn't they? She was happy to know that Dorothea was willing to share her music though, help her broaden her horizons. The music that filled the grounds was soft and sad, but there was so much emotion in the woman's voice that made her eyes fill up with tears. "This is so beautiful.." she sniffed wiping away the coming tears.
She shouldn't be crying but it was so powerful.

“Isn’t it?” Dorothea’s mom has been the one to introduce her to the musical. While she was here training her voice to be a superhero, her mother was continuing her dream of stardom. They kept in touch often, which was rare given that her touring company probably wouldn’t come to Metroville for a while. “I was hoping of using this for an audition. Pft, not like I’d have time when I get superheroing.”

"Ah, I think you could pull it off." Maria replied still entranced by the music in her ears. "I mean,I am sure that heroes don't do the whole heroing thing twenty four seven right? Any hobby is worth venturing no matter what." She loved baking and she was sure that heroing would take up most of her time, she wouldn't want to give that up. "I think that you could be a great singer and hero at the same time."

“True, but scheduling conflicts can be a hassle. I can only hope someone doesn’t try to commit any crimes during my tech rehearsal.” Tech rehearsals in general were stressful, and she didn’t need to add crime fighting to the outdoor stressors. No one needed for her to tirade because she had to stop for five minutes to stop a robbery. With her voice, she could at least consider if a warm up?

"I guess that's the problem with being a hero in training, or even a hero in general." she mused quietly. "You can never really expect your life to be normal. Something might always happen and you always have to be on your guard." It was a lot more complicated than she thought.

Dorothea nodded silently in agreement. That was also the glamour of the hero life as well. Not knowing what kind of things the day would bring and bring whatever excitement to a boring routine. Then again, that was theatre. Although she could do hero without having to down a medicine ball tea afterwards.
