Zelda's opinion on metal was no surprise. It had a niche crowd. Spike kind of liked it that way though. It was like knowing something secret that nobody else was in on. "Well put," he said. "At least we know this will be considered old people's music in a few decades. Although god forbid what music is going to sound like then." He would stick with the tunes he knew, tried and true songs that he could play well or get him in a good mood.

Zelda cringed just picturing it. Electronic music was making waves, and if people were getting lazier with their voices, then there was no point in songs gaging lyrics. All she pictured was noise. It was like the Grinch complaining about noise on a mountaintop. Spike said it would be old people’s music eventually, and well, it didn’t help

Zelda was quiet. Spike wasn't sure if she was thinking over what he'd said, or trying to find a way to change the subject. Or just bail out of the conversation entirely. Spike didn't do small talk a whole lot with the smarter kids, unless they needed something to the edge off of all the classes they were taking. "So, I take it you don't enjoy parties," he said, glancing at her. Party lovers didn't exactly bring something to read with them.

She nodded. "If I weren't here at the request of my roommate and our neighbor, I'd probably be in the library." There was another reason that parties really weren't for her, but at this point, Spike was only an acquaintance. She wasn't ready to discuss the years and years of boredom she had gathered from going to countless parties where her father and his policies were the center of attention. Een without him, she still felt like a simple accessory. It was what drew her to the Cinderella dress in the first place; for just one night, maybe she would feel like actual royalty.

"Good of your roommate then," Spike said. "You gotta live a little, you know? Get your head out of the books every once in a while." Granted, Zelda was still being a wallflower right now, but hey, at least she came. That was still commendable. There were probably a few nerds like her that were trying to pass the night away by reading books, or people who wouldn't come if they didn't have a date. Spike never saw the appeal of that. If you couldn't have fun at a dance by yourself, you need to do some self-reflection or something.

"Well, don't go singing her praises just yet. She's as much of a wallflower as I am. Really, it was our neighbor who suggested we go out." Zelda glanced around, but she didn't see Namine or Dorothea in the sea of people that were milling about. She began to feel even more out of place without familiar faces and she clutched her Sate tighter, like a kid would clutch a stuffed animal when feeling stressed in a crowd.

"well hey, at least you both came out. That's a step in the right direction," Spike said, hoping he sounded encouraging. Zelda was holding her tablet thing like a shield, as if it would stop anything bad from happening. She needed to chill out or she was going to pop from all the stress. "Maybe next time I'll get to see your dance moves," he added teasingly.

Zelda’s grip loosened on the Slate at Spike’s quip. The last person she danced with was Link. She remembered that day. She had been stressed by her father which had sent her running to her room crying, but that was interrupted by a knock where he had simply stood with a hand out. What was that song they had danced to? Ugh, she couldn’t remember. But maybe, just maybe, it was in the DJ’s repitoire? Oh and of course her singing was nothing at all like Dorothea, so she’d ruin the melody. Spike probably wouldn’t know it since it wasn’t in his preferred music. “I can’t dance to save my life,” she said softly.

Zelda replied really quietly, almost...sad? It seemed that way to Spike, although he had no idea why. Were her dancing skills that embarrassing? They couldn't be that bad. Even he'd sucked until he'd worked at it a bit. "It just takes some practice," he said. "Fighting and dancing aren't too different, you know. You've got a set of actions you move to in a rhythm. The only difference is you want to be in sync with a dance partner, but faster than a fighting opponent."

“You’re not the first person to say that little nugget of wisdom. You’re not wrong, but I prefer being a support in the back. My powers really wouldn’t be of much use…unless there were robotics in action.” She really was useless when it came to hand to hand combat. A villain would easily pin her down when they spotted her or catch up to her should she choose flight. The comparison to dancing and fighting were similar. Of course, depending on the situation, one meant a possible death more than the other,

A gearhead with powers controlling robotics? That made sense. And Spike could see the point that she was making. Sometimes, powers could only get you so far. Heck, Spike's power by itself wasn't going to help him defeat an opponent. He might be able to sense them coming, but he needed to know how to use that to his advantage, and that was where the hand-to-hand combat came in. "Well hey, maybe instead of giant cinderblocks attacking us, we'll get giant robots next time," he joked. He hadn't seen that in person, but had heard a couple of students talk about how they'd had to take some down on their own. It was kind of interesting, although the hype had worn down pretty quickly. That was how high school was.

Zelda's smile was small, but genuine. 'Ah, yes, and then the large monster that ravages downtown," she added sarcastically. There were many millionaires that had the money to send out armies of robots all over the world. When and where they could attack was anyone's guess, but at least she felt better about it. She had also heard about the cinderblocks through little birds around the school, anda she had shaken it as just gossip. That was until the news had a headline and huge story about it. But just like any crazy spark, it went out just as fast as it came.

Spike laughed. "Yeah, Godzilla 2.0," he chuckled. He'd heard some stories about superheroes dealing with monsters like that, but he'd never seen one in person. He felt like a monster would be easier to take down than a supervillain though. Monsters like that usually weren't smart and they were easy to figure out. Supervillains, heck, even the pros couldn't guess what they were thinking sometimes. It could turn into a game of cat and mouse, one trying to outsmart the other until someone ended up on top.

Zelda let a soft quiet laugh. Godzilla 2.0. Not like there weren’t a million other versions of him with different takes. Heck, apparently one was a mech. That was a combination of supervillain and monster. It’d be a battle she could help from that front at least.

"You have a nice laugh," Spike said before sipping his drink. He was almost out of alcohol, but he felt like he was tipsy enough. Anymore and he'd probably end up catching a teacher's attention or something. Normally, he didn't mind getting into a little trouble, but now wasn't the time.
