"You'll have to let me know when the performances for it is. I'm pretty good about charming my way into the Crow Bar without an ID." Heck, Dorothea was pretty darn good at doing it. Mostly she went on karaoke nights. Her siren song was a gift in getting her through. Now that Spike had a set list with his band, she could have a chance to go that didn't involve tuckering out her vocal chords. Who knew? Maybe she would get to meet his bandmates, and if they were any good, in both looks and performances, she could lasso them into the theatre world.

It seemed like Dorothea wasn't a stranger to the Qrow Bar. Quite a few kids from Hero High snuck in to get booze or just be around the adult crowd. So far, the place hadn't gotten busted, and Spike hoped it stayed that way. The Qrow Bar was the only place that didn't mind heavy metal or classic rock, although he sometimes wondered if that was because the patrons were too drunk to care. Either way, it was where his band performed the most frequently. "I guess if you don't mind the heavy stuff," he replied. Although to be fair, Dorothea had gotten the DJ to play some Metallica back at the Halloween party, so she probably wasn't a stranger to that kind of music.

Dorothea folded her arms with an offended huff. Playfully, of course. It hadn’t been the first time that Spike had teased her about his preferred style of music. “Oh, what, and simply seeing a friend perform isn’t a good enough excuse?” Spike was her friend? Wasn’t he? She had her own social circles…truthfully far too many to keep track of…but she did consider him one. She wouldn’t have tried to save his life otherwise.

"Okay, okay, fair enough," Spike replied before taking another bite of his pretzel. "Although I guess that means I'll have to check out the Glee club next time you guys are performing." Spike could appreciate the work it took to make a bunch of different voices sound harmonious together, but some of the arrangements of popular songs made him cringe a little bit. And any choir or thespian kids he'd hung out with before could be a little on the weird side.

"I'll make sure that you get a flier, then," she promised through a mouthful of pretzel. It was kind of nice having friends that weren't tied dirctly to the Glee club or had connections to members show interest in seeing one of the concerts. Unlike Spike's band, the set list had yet to be posted by the club director. Dorothea might have been the president, but that was not her job. She just had to make sure everyone was doing their "shomework".

Spike finished off the last mouthful of his pretzel, brushing off any large flakes of salt that had gotten on his shirt. Him and Dorothea were more into the thick of things at the carnival and it seemed like there were rides and games everywhere. One caught his attention and the title made him raise an eyebrow. "The Terror Tower?" he said incredulously. It looked like the usual kind of drop down ride where you were slowly cranked to the top of a tower, then let go before stopping just below the ground. It didn't look terribly high, although it looked like the name was trying to make it sound scarier than it actually was.

Spike and Dorothea had come into the throes of the rides. To her left, lit up in bright lights, was the sign “Terror Tower.” If by terror, she meant the uncomfortable sounds of the chairs clicking as they went skyward. She swallowed the last of her pretzel and observed the ride as it continued to go up. Heights didn’t bother her…to an extent. From ground level, the height didn’t seem so bad…and the drop did look smooth. Dorothea looked at Spike. “You want to see if this thing’s all bark but no bite?”

Dorothea seemed game to try it out and Spike figured they might as well. Rides were part of the fun after all. "Let's give this thing a whirl," he said, grinning as he headed towards the ride. The line wasn't terribly long, but just long enough that Spike would get to see the ride in action before he and Dorothea got on. Once everyone in front of them were seated, the ride started to crank up and Spike had to lean his head back to watch the rides. "Hope nobody loses their sandals," he commented.

Apparently the ride was giving many people cold feet. Be it from the height of the questionability of the metal light structure. Dorothea and Spike were let on quickly. But before she settled next to him, she slid her flip flops off and trotted to her seat barefooted. After securing her harness, all she did was sit back. Why do you think I took mine off before we got on?” Dorothea quipped to Spike. The cooler air blew in between her toes, a brisk reminder that winter was leaving and spring was coming.

Luckily, nobody on the ride before them lost their shoes, or anything else for that matter. But Spike did make sure his wallet was very deep in his pocket before getting on. Dorothea had her sandals off, her feet swinging back and forth as everyone was strapped in. The ride started cranking up and while it hadn't looked like much from the ground, going up towards the top provided quite an intimidating point of view. Spike figured they had to be at least a hundred feet up, maybe more. The only ride taller was the ferris wheel. "Gotta love the view, huh?" he said jokingly.

“Yes. The threat of dropping at an incredible speed makes it extra romantic,” Dorothea quipped. The view did distract from how high up they were ticking up in a way. The way the sky blended with the ocean was something that so many people loved talking about. Given how many pictures Dorothea had taken with her mom with the exact backdrop proved to be timeless. Her palms grew sweaty when she remembered that they were going up a metal tower.

Dorotha's reply was quick and clever and Spike couldn't help but laugh. A speaker crackled for a second before the ride operator's voice was heard. "Y'all ready to ride?" he asked, almost like an announcer getting people riled up for a wrestling match. Almost everyone cheered and whooped, which Spike figured that was the response he was going for. "Hang on tight then 'cause we're falling in 3...2...1..." The countdown was probably good for the riders, but Spike's preflexes kicked in and he actually sensed the moment right before the ride operator pulled the switch down on the ground. For a second, his brain tried to think of a clever quip to say, but the ride dropped and anything he might have thought to say would have been lost amidst the screams and cheers. Spike actually felt his stomach drop for a moment, but he felt the moment when the ride would stop, and sure enough, it came to a halt right above the ground. Some of the riders shakily got off the ride, others whooped and bounced on their feet, adrenaline still running high. "Okay, credit where credit is due, that wasn't too bad," Spike said as he ran a hand through his hair. No doubt the sudden rush of wind had it sticking up all over.

The ride clicked to a halt. Dorothea gripped the rails in anticipation. Somehow waiting for the tide to go was more nerve wracking than the drop of steady climb. As everyone nearby cheered for the very charismatic ride hop, she stood a look over to Spike. Cool as a cucumber. What was going on inside his head? Then the lever pulled, and a scream that turned into a laugh escaped Dorothea’s diaphragm. The ride slowed to a stop. Her chestnut brown hair was all fluffed from the wind hitting her every which way. All she could was laugh in response to Spike as she went to retrieve her sandals.

Dorothea's hair didn't look much better than his, but that was to be expected after going on some of the rides here. That, and the strong breeze that blew in from the ocean. Her laugh was more than enough to make up for it, a real laugh instead of the wry chuckle he got when he said something amusing. She even seemed...pretty. Spike blinked. Where had that thought come from? Sure, Dorothea looked put together in almost anything she wore, and he could admit when a girl was hot. But seeing how bright Dorothea's eyes got when she laughed, or how much he liked the sound, those weren't really things he'd noticed about any other girl, or any other person for that matter. This was an uncomfortable train of thought that Spike shoved to the back of his mind, as he tended to do when he started thinking about things that made him uncomfortable. "So...where do we head from here?" he asked, almost as much to himself as to Dorothea as he scanned another look around the carnival.

After making a fruitless attempt to smooth her hair back into place, Dorothea gave up. Jasmine and coconut water did its job a little too well in the volume department. Then she saw Spike looking at her for a brief second. For a few seconds, he seemed mesmerized. Not in the way men were when she sang or when she casually threw a flirt out. He had mahogany eyes. Not brown like she had always thought. So rich, so captivating…but then she saw Spike look away, and she resigned to playing with one of her earrings.
“Um…”
No dips in the ocean. Once was enough for the both of them. A part of her wanted to ask Spike about it, but she didn’t want to tarnish any connection they had. He’d come to her about it.
“We could always see what’s being sold in the kiosks. There’s always bound to be something there.”
