Caspar's first move after dumping his stuff off at the dorm (not even bothering to unpack), was to go to the gym. He took a soccer ball with him and immediately set out to the field. He had tons of energy to burn off and he had to do something about it. So he figured keeping himself in top physical condition would help do that. He dribbled the ball up to the net and kicked the soccer ball so hard it tore clean through the net.
"He shoots! He scores!" he shouted to no one.

But there was someone in the gym, and the blue haired slugger hadn’t noticed. Riku was stretching in the far corner, feeling the itch of boredom come in. If he hadn’t gotten it out, something in his dorm would have fallen thanks to shadow forces. He was coming up from his last push up just in time to see the ball go clean through the next. He let out a low, impressed whistle. Not too many people could score like that.

"Huh... Oh man!"
Caspar groaned and jogged over to the net. He hadn't meant to leave a hole in it. And it had looked new too. Even worse, now he had to find his ball, hoping that he hadn't flattened yet another soccer ball. He left the net and began walking around, searching for his lost soccer ball. Please don't be lodged in a wall. He really didn't want to have to deal with damages this early in the school year.

The blue haired kid caught onto his mistake and began hunting like mad something. Riku didn’t have to be a straight A student to figure out what. The ball, thankfully, hadn’t flattened or went into the stratosphere. Instead, it was wedged comfortably in the rafters on the ceiling. It would take another toss to get it down. Or superpowers.
“No worries. I got it”
The bell was covered on black energy. Then, like someone just nudged it and was pulling it by an invisible string, it fell gracefully into Riku’s waiting hands, which also emitted the black force. Once it was comfortably in place, the shadows died down.

"Whoa! Thanks a bunch!"
Caspar jogged over to the other teen. He offered a huge grin that spread from ear to ear. Super stoked that he got to meet someone new and to see someone else show off their powers. This was great! Better yet, he wasn't getting in trouble for destroying the net! Not that anyone could prove it was him, right? Right!
"I never would have thought to look up there!"

"Balls get stuck in the rafters all the time in gyms, or worse, the bleachers. Also see that?" He pointed to a roughly patched section of roof. "I bet someone ended up sending a ball right through there. Or heck, maybe it was a person." He shook his head with a mirthful smile. "But whatever happened, I'm sure the damage wasn't exactly pretty, both for the ceiling and the person's wallet." Provided the person winded up paying at all.

"Still, you saved me a whole lot of trouble!" he said. "The name's Caspar! What's yours?"
He didn't even want to try to imagine how he would have gone about getting his ball back. Mostly, it would have been throwing a series of objects at it to get it down (if he even noticed it was up there) and probably only exacerbating the problem by getting more things stuck. Or making holes in the ceiling. As was his luck.

“Riku.”
He tucked the ball under his armpit and extended a gloved hand out for a shake. Caspar was someone that could make this year for sports interesting. With his strength, he could be an entire football team’s defense. But Riku wasn’t a coach or even a scout, so he shook the thought away.

Caspar hesitated when Riku offered his hand. He often tried to avoid touching others because he would accidentally hurt them. People were rather fragile. But he figured just a light palm to palm shake. Once. Twice. Done. His hand was pulled back. He didn't grip Riku's hand either.
"Nice to meet you, man!" Caspar said with a grin, "What brings you to school here?"

The handshake grip wasn't firm, but at least he didn't shrink away. Riku had to give Caspar credit. With how powerful his sports skills was, the adrenaline could be coursing still and by accident, a full handshake could mean his wrist would've been broken. After the palm to palm exchange, Caspar tried to initate conversation with a big grin. Riku ran a hand through his silver hair.
"Well, it was either die the hero or live long enough to become the villain."

"Nah, you couldn't be a villain. I don't see it," Casper said.
He wondered if that was because of his powers. Casper hadn't quite paid attention - actually, scratch that - he paid zero attention to how Riku got the ball down, just that he had. But he knew a bit about powers being dangerous. His own could be a bit hard to control at times. He had broken so many doors off their hinges and delicate things like fine cutlery were not safe in his hands when he was distracted.
"So, do you play?" he asked, gesturing to the ball.

Well, at least someone would have his back if his powers did go dark. There were questionable people at best on this school. Riku trusted a small handful just on j tuition. Caspar was lucky that he got a pass. Someone so perky and energetic was hard not to like. At Caspar’s question, he set the ball down and dribbled it with his feet lazily.
“You could say that. More comfortable in a gym than a classroom.”

"Right? I haven't even met my roommate yet!" Caspar laughed. "I just... had to burn off some energy, you know?"
He had been a bundle of anxiousness. The last thing he wanted to do was look like a complete doofus in front of his roommate no less! It would be absolutely embarrassing if the other guy caught him doing something stupid! After all, first impressions were super important. He knew that he could be quite the handful sometimes.

"Well, you're burning it in a healthy way, so I'll give you points for that," Riku said with a knowing smirk.
He had seen kids literally burn energy. Like with fire. There was that barista with the nasty scar who supposedly left a patch of grass singed. Well, at least that was the rumor. Caspar, on the other hand, was just in the gym where he didn't have to worry about hurting anyone.

"Well... I sort of tend to break stuff if I don't," Caspar confessed. "I have super strength so... yeah. No one wants to come into the dorm with stuff broken first thing."
He knew he was a bit too anxious to keep his powers in check. He was actually quite surprised he hadn't kicked the ball through a wall or just destroyed it on contact. As a material he couldn't punch through hadn't been made yet. Just his sheer determination and every iota of control he had not to destroy the most basic of things. Riku seemed to take it well enough, and didn't judge him for it.
