"I don't think you could spike hot chocolate..." Ruby mused as she too looked at the punch bowl, which sat virtually untouched.
She was glad they had opted for hot chocolate. It was warm, filling and had good memories for her. Plus, it was just tasty. They needed something like that with cold weather coming on.
"It's starting to get colder! I can't wait to see what this place does for winter! Like a skating rink or... super powered snowball fights?"
She could only imagine how much fun there was to have.

Riku chose not to answer her question. Last year he had learned that despite its creaminess, hot chocolate could, in fact, be spiked. The memory of seeing his at the time girlfriend giggling with her face red from flushing and the very tiny bottle of amaretto flashed briefly. Deceptive spirit it was. Besides, the teachers were hovering over the bowls like vultures. What was that called again? Mantling? It didn’t matter. Ruby asked how winter was on campus, and he smiled knowingly. Benefits to bring a senior was all the stories of the school.
“A Professor here once had ice powers and he made a full blown winter wonderland. But since I have yet to meet ice students this year, looks like that’s just a dream.”

"No way! They have to bring that professor back! Even if it's just for like... one class! That'd be so amazing!" she gushed.
She had always been rather envious of those who could control the elements. Like her sister. Fire was as second nature to her sister as breathing. Candles shone brighter when she walked into the room. She could, if she focused, stop a gun from firing. Ruby was happy she had abilities. She also liked using said abilities to help people, so at the end of the day, she couldn't complain. She couldn't even ask for something flashier since she tended to leave rose petals in her wake.

“Oh I’m sure they’ll find some way to make the holidays enjoyable. Yeah it won’t be a snow playground, but it’ll be something.”
One year, he remembered the giant Santa mech. Fighting that had been fun. But deep down, there was a small sense that twisting a holiday to be a bad reminder of people getting lost was in bad taste. Not that he’s say it out loud.

"I challenge you to a snowball fight first snow we get!" she issued.
She gave him a brilliant grin as if she were proud of herself for even thinking up some childish game to play. But really, she thought far too many people were so solemn and serious about things. She liked to remind them it was okay to act like a kid every once in a while. She certainly didn't let her own tragedies influence her life to the point of inaction. Or at least tried not to.

"Consider it an accepted challenge, but be careful. I fight dirty."
Ruby's confident smirk wouldn't last long the minute snow covered the area. A plus to controlling shadows was that he could be throwing multiple snowballs at once. Or he could just do hat tricks with his tosses. Really, it just depended on the target. Besides, it was a more refreshing sports exercise as opposed to the boring ones Coach gave out.

"It's a deal!" she said.
She held out her hand so they could shake on it. She was just as liable to be unfair in a snowball fight. It was a game after all. She liked a good competition just as much as the next person did after all. And no one really got hurt in a game like that. Plus, she had a feeling other people would jump into the fight just for a chance to throw snowballs at each other.
