"I'm only saying that the videos they show us could be updated for the sake of better graphics. Not like the acting in those 'fake scenarios' were ever A list material," Albedo said, holding up his hands. "Or maybe do modern courses since hero stuff has changed in the last decade at least tenfold already."
Even he had to admit that the videos they watched in class were so bland that even he had a hard time focusing on it. The material was dated. And the acting was so bad it was actually kind of funny in a pathetic sort of way. Granted, he wasn't a great actor so he couldn't entirely blame the cast for the writing choices. They did the best they could with the material they had.

“This is why I like Professor Hueros’ class. He keeps us grounded in the realities that happen as superheroes. There truthfully is a grimness to it…”
She trailed off. Link had been lost trying to defend her, with the oath he swore to protect her. Because heroes always did whatever they could. Not many made it out of situations alive like in the movies or the books. Yet it did give Zelda something to think about when it came to heroing. It wasn’t talking down to.

"I haven't tried making hero equipment yet," he told her. "To help reduce the casualty rates. I'd actually have to talk to front line heroes to figure out what they need."
Albedo knew his 'people' skills were subpar. He knew it was important to equip the heroes of the world with the best inventions, tools and armor for the trade. Mostly, Albedo did 'small' things. To improve basic daily life. But that wasn't a 'heroic' thing to do when there were bigger inventions than self-cleaning ice cream machines or tiny pocket heaters.

"Jobs will open up for you to put them to the test," she said reassuringly.
There were always going to be those people who wanted to be heroes without powers. The well meaning folk who wanted to help, but weren't gifted, so they resorted to other means. Some of them had money to get expensive gadgets, but off course, those required years of practice. Some heroes probably wanted them to be flashy or add and extra oomph to their already impressive displays.

"I don't... converse with others easily. You're different. You're smart."
She was on his level. He didn't have to dumb things down for her. Not to mention, she challenged him to do better and be better than what he was. Plus, she humored his need to constantly be doing something. He knew that just telling her that he considered her different didn't amount to much. She was literally the only person he had conversed with aside from his roommate. But that was more obligation than anything else.

Zelda’s brow furrowed. Normally, someone saying that she was worth talking to because of her brains and that she was different was something she took pride in. But lately, too much of that was being thrown around, and you could always have too much of a good thing. Albedo saying he liked her just because of her brains didn’t exactly make her feel comforted.
“So I’m only worth your time because of my intelligence. I see”

Albedo immediately felt as if he said something wrong.
"I - I - uh... It's..."
He thought people liked being told they were smart. He couldn't put to words how much he appreciated having Zelda around. Especially since most people tended to treat him differently because he was smart. Just because he was intelligent, it did not mean he knew what he was doing regarding people and emotions. And perhaps this was why he was better off keeping his distance after all.

Zelda stood up, careful not to get tangled up in the mass of her skirts. Sitting to make this statement wouldn’t resonate. Albedo respected intelligence, and he respected intelligent authority. She’d put the front on and hopefully, it’d catch on.
“You know, there is more to spending time with a person than simply a common trait. There is discussing likes and dislikes that aren’t that one thing.”

Albedo stared up at her in confusion. He had a feeling he was only making things worse for himself. But he truly didn't understand at all. People and emotions were something that never made sense to him. No matter what he read it just never clicked for him. He had a sinking feeling that he had offended her some how but he wasn't sure how.
"I don't understand." he said slowly.

Simple words, then. He was staring up at her in such childlike confusion that it was hard not to oblige his silent plea for help. Albedo just didn’t know better. Getting upset because of a simple misunderstanding wouldn’t do much good.
“When one talks to another, some times they like talking about other things besides what you have in common. It’s fine to do that, and if the person doesn’t care about the topic at the moment, that’s all right as well. Showing interest is more than words.”

"But I thought we both liked talking about the inventions?" Albedo said in confusion. "You're mad because I said you're smart?"
Did she dislike being told she was smart? He had always took it as a compliment. Though, he knew it was perhaps the only thing he was good at. His physical prowess left much to be desired, especially compared to some of the more brawny students. Like that lug named Caspar.
"I like you because I can have a conversation with you. You don't get mad when I talk about things because you understand what I'm talking about."

Zelda’s face became understanding. Her overreaction was unwarranted, and as such, left him puzzled. “Yes, I like talking about inventions, but I like discussing other things, too. I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to react as explosively as I did. I should have just said that. In the future, I’ll try to be clearer.” She liked spending time with Albedo, but after getting to know other students like Namine and Dorothea, and the last person she reluctantly talked to Spike, a desire to be social beyond basic smart individuals was taking root.

Albedo made a note to go to the library and find a book on understanding people. He still wasn't entirely sure he understood why it was a bad thing, but he wasn't about to make things worse for himself. He wasn't about to admit that he barely spoke to anyone outside of her and his roommate. His experiences with his peers had never been good.
"What would you like to talk about?" he inquired.

“Well…how has life with your roommate been?” It was the first question that just popped into her mind. She adjusting the lighting on her skirts so he wasn’t being distracted by the blinking. The last thing she wanted was to bring a dance floor to a person that wanted nothing to do with it.

"His name is Claude," Albedo said.
Then he paused. He actually had to think about what he knew about his roommate. When was the last time he had a conversation with him? It was probably when he was building the ice cream machine. A while. He hadn't exactly spent a lot of time in his room since then. Mostly just to sleep. He had camped in the library ore than once.
"He has superior aiming?"
Dreadful. He knew next to nothing about his roommate.
